Wenatchee. "Chelan" derives from a Chelan Indian word meaning "deep
water," likely a reference to 55-mile-long Lake Chelan, the third deepest
lake in the country, at 1,486 ft (453 m). Boasting all four seasons,
Chelan County makes a recreation paradise for all ages! Whether you enjoy
snow skiing or water skiing, mountain climbing or trail hiking, golfing or
fishing, we have it all! Our location and weather makes Chelan County the
playground of the Pacific Northwest.

The country bordering Lake Chelan have many attractions to make life
desireable in this region, and not the least among of them may be
mentioned the scenic beauty of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

camparison.
Lake Chelan is in the northern part of Chelan County
and is over 50 miles in length. It extends far into the Cascade
Mountians.
